Bringing local hotels to standards such as those at Brooklyn's Le Bleu Hotel, will attract more tourists and create jobs.
In a plan to boost tourism and support the hotel industry, Mayor Bloomberg's hotel boom is in full swing.  It is hoped that in addition to tourism and jobs, the development will improve neighborhoods in the outer boroughs.

BROOKLYN, NY (Catholic Online) - The outer boroughs are a big part of Blioomberg's plan as evidenced by a recent conference he held at the Z Hotel in Queens.

The goal is to spare tourists the high costs of Manhattan hotel accommodations while developing hotels near mass transit options onto the island. Tourists can then stay outside of Manhattan and ride the subway in and out as desired.

With the new developments ready to open, it is expected that the outer boroughs will see the economic improvements straight away.
