Community gardens in safe hands

Catholic Online (www.catholic.org)

The Brooklyn Queens Land Trust will now safeguard 32 additional community gardens and green spaces for the public.
The Trust for Public Land (TPL) has handed over 32 gardens to the Brooklyn Queens Land Trust (BQLT).  The handover ensures that public gardens and green spaces will be available to local residents in perpetuity.

BROOKLYN, NY (Catholic Online) - The TPL has been saving public gardens from bulldozers for years, protecting the plots for more than 500 gardeners and the greater public.

The gardens are important because many city dwellers have little or no access to green places at all. So the sites have enormous value to the well being of local residents.

The property values of all the BQLT plots is well over $7 million combined.
