The Strand Theatre is getting a makeover!
The old Strand Theatre is about to get a makeover that will bring it and Brooklyn's new aniticpated cultural district into the digital age.

BROOKLYN, NY (Catholic Online) - The building opened as a vaudeville playhouse in 1918, and could seat almost 3,000 theatergoers. Houdini once performed there and the theater has served moviegoers for decades. In later years, the theater was turned into a bowling alley and even a printing shop.

The redesigned and rebranded theater will soon feature a 250 seat performance space as well as a 3,000 square foot contemporary arts gallery.

The Strand Theatre will also be wired for technology and feature interactive arts projects. Planners hope the rennovation sets a trend for the area and want to see more redevelopment in the area inspired by the Strand Theatre.
