On Sunday, an 84-year-old woman was found dead inside her Brooklyn apartment with signs of head trauma. BROOKLYN, NY (Catholic Online) - Stephen Franco found his mother, Jane Franco, in her apartment in Bay Ridge. She was laying face-up, unconscious. Jane appeared to have blunt force trauma to the head but there were no signs of a break-in or any type of forced entry, according to police sources.
A 911 call was made at 1:22 p.m. and when the paramedics arrived, Franco was already dead. The "suspicious" death is under investigation with a medical examiner set to determine the cause of death.
Next-door neighbor Theresa Mucci, 74, said Franco had suffered multiple strokes over the last few years.
"She wasn't well," Mucci said. "I'm just in shock. She was a very sweet woman, helpful to everyone. Stephen was a very good son. He took care of her. He took her to all her doctors' appointments."
