Catholic Online (www.catholic.org)

The company's products include hummus, kosher pickles and herring.
A settlement was been reached between a Brooklyn kosher food manufacturer and twenty former employees, who had complained about the working conditions.

BROOKLYN, NY (Catholic Online) - The settlement with Flaum Appetizing Corp. has been confirmed by Manhattan federal courts records. Stuart Lichten, the ex-employees' lawyer, said the settlement totals $577,000.

Most of the workers were Mexican immigrants. The case started in 2007, when a nonprofit group advocated for them. Over 120 supermarkets have stopped selling Flaum products due to the controversy.
